SHIBORI STYLE STITCHED BUNTING

I dyed cotton fabric Shibori style and chopped it up into 100 pieces which folded in half to form bunting.

Each day I stitched on one piece with a very limited colour palette, sometimes adding further fabric, threads or paper. I work a lot in blue and white and never tire of the combination, but the added zing of lime helps pull the project together I think. I had no plan at the start and it just evolved day to day. It was probably too time consuming for a first attempt at being creative for 100 days and the beautiful summer weather that first lockdown didn't help.

Amazingly I was never short of ideas and I wanted to keep going after 100 days!! I really enjoyed the process and completed 2021 as well. It's never got to the stage of being hung all together as bunting, but I'm planning to do that this year as I'm part of Forth Valley Art Beat open studios in June.
