XCIX DEMONS
My 2021 project was the solar opposite of the one I did the previous year in almost every aspect. XCIX Demons is a collection of 99 creatures, each of them had a little text in the form of diary, notes or observations that some of (human) character had about them.
My intention with this project was to create a whole world of dark fantasy through creature design and some sort of storytelling. Even though only the demons are portrayed, the texts are written by human characters who are trying to survive the invasion of these monsters.
This time I used traditional simple techniques to make the illustrations. I just used pencil and ink, which I thought gave the series a fitting look, considering I wanted it to be dark and creepy.
