WOODLAND WALKS

My background is in jewellery making and I started this project thinking I’d make wearable pieces using artwork I had painted on my daily walks in the countryside. I quickly realised that it was a little too complex for a daily task and felt I wasn’t able to meet my own brief.

After more procrastination I returned to my favourite lichens and mosses. The sheer variety and colours found on the trees and stones in the woodland with their shapes and colour proved inspiring. Experimenting with making texture on metal and soft wood, I began to add pieces of bark and wire.

These little 3D pieces, painted in bright colours almost became like little landscapes. I hope to develop these textures and shapes into something more sculptural, perhaps as pieces jewellery.
