100 ART EXPERIMENTS

2020 was my first time participating in 100 Days Scotland, and it was a much-needed nudge into my studio to start making art regularly again.

I left the ‘rules’ fairly open: all I had to do was create a visual experiment of some sort, using any materials and any subject. They didn’t have to be finished pieces. They didn’t have to make sense. I just had to make. The results were colourful, varied, and reflective of the very strange times we were living through. I drew my cat. I made portraits of my friends wearing their face masks and PPE. I created patterns of corona viruses, and abstract splatters, and leaf prints. I drew, collaged, and painted. Some of my patterns I then had printed onto face masks.

Overall this project produced a colourful, varied, strange group of images that bear little resemblance to the art I had made before. It was good to play.
